Step 1: Locating the original transaction to refund 

You can fully or partially refund a transaction through the Mint mPOS app in two methods.
Method 1A: Searching and refunding a transaction based on invoice number
Method 1B: Searching and refunding a transaction by viewing transaction history

Note: To process a refund, the customer must present the same card that was used to process the original transaction.

Method 1A: Searching and refunding a transaction based on invoice number

Locate the transaction by:

1) Select Refund from the Settings menu.

2) Enter the Invoice Number shown on the receipt.

3) Tap Refund in the Transaction Details screen and enter the refund amount.

You can refund a partial amount, but you will not be unable to refund more than the original transaction amount. Notes can be added which will appear on the refund entry.

Method 1B: Searching and refunding a transaction by viewing transaction history

1) Access the Settings menu and press Transaction History.

2) Locate the original transaction by:

2a) Using the System Trace Audit Number (STAN)

OR

2b) Scrolling through the records to find the original transaction.

*Note: The most recent transactions are displayed first. You can view older transactions by loading 10 more records each time.*

3) Select the transaction to view the Transaction Details.

4) Tap Refund in the Transaction Details screen and enter the refund amount.

Note: You can refund a partial amount, but you will be unable to refund more than the original transaction amount. Notes can be added which will appear on the refund entry. There is no time limit on processing refunds.

Step 2: Refunding the payment

The refund process is similar to taking a payment. You can either Tap or Insert the card.

Tap

If the customer wishes to use contactless as an entry mode, select Tap.

The lights on the device will light up when the contact less card is detected.

Insert

If the customer wishes to use a Chip or Swipe card as an entry mode, select Insert/Swipe then insert or swipe the card and follow the prompts.

Refund approved

Once the refund is approved, both the Mint mPOS app and the Mint mPOS Reader will show the Transaction Approved screens.

Step 3: Issuing a refunded receipt

Access the Settings menu and press the Transaction History option. Locate the refund by:

• Using the System Trace Audit Number (STAN) which can be found on the transaction details 

or

• Scrolling through the records to find the original transaction.

Note: Refunded transactions will be displayed in a different colour and include the words REFUNDED next to the transaction.

Select the transaction, complete the SMS or email details and press Send.
