Supported Payment Methods for Mint Protect

When you have Mint Protect enabled, chargebacks related to Supplier Failure or Service Non-Delivery are always included when accepting card payments through a Mint Payments facility.

Fraudulent transactions (e.g. when a stolen card number is used) are only covered when processing card payments through a secure payments facility that has cardholder authentication enabled.

If you are taking the cardholders details and entering them on their behalf (MOTO aka Mobile Order/Telephone Order), the cardholder cannot be authenticated and Mint Protect does not cover fraudulent transactions. Supplier Failure or Service Non-Delivery chargebacks are still covered.

3DS (3D Secure) adds a quick cardholder check during online payment that queries the card-issuing bank, for validity and asks the cardholder to authenticate the payment via a prompt or one-time code if the bank if required.

Chargeback Management Process

In the event you receive a chargeback against your business, Mint will assist you with disputing the transaction.

  1. Mint will be notified of the dispute.

  2. Mint will contact you to begin the dispute management process.

  3. If you have Mint Protect and the transaction is eligible, Mint will not debit the disputed transaction amount from your account.

You will be debited a chargeback management fee which will be refunded if the chargeback dispute is found in favour of your business.

  4. Mint will request that you provide supporting documents within 14 days to submit as evidence supporting your business.

If evidence is not submitted within this timeframe, the transaction will be considered ineligible for Mint Protect, as we will be unable to defend the chargeback.

  5. Mint will advocate on your behalf throughout the dispute process

  6. If the dispute is settled in your favour: the chargeback management fee will be returned to your account.

If the dispute is settled in favour of the cardholder, and the transaction is eligible for Mint Protect: Mint will cover the cost of the transaction, and retain the management fee.
